They call it iphoneography or Smartphoneography”

To start, in all types of photography, the purpose is to tell some sort of visual story.

I’ve made an amazing observation lately. Everyone uses his or her smartphone for everything now. It’s a calculator, a computer, a database manager, a dictionary, even a ruler. It all depends on the app that has been downloaded.

However, the most use the cell phone gets beside texting and the every now and then phone call is the camera. Nowadays, we don’t need a fancy camera to take pretty decent photos. the phone camera does a fairly decent job at taking a portrait (especially the iPhone X) and it’s able to send and share instantly. There’s no need to wait to get the image printed, although that’s still my favorite method to share beautiful graduation pictures. The selfie is phenomenon. I mean, even people who don’t like taking pictures will do a selfie from time to time.

What is a Selfie?   A selfie is a self-portrait type image, typically taken with a smartphone which may be held in the hand or supported by a selfie stick. Selfies are often shared on social networking services such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram. They are often casual in nature.

So what about iPhoneography? With the revolutionary rise of high quality images being taking on phone cameras, at this point, you've probably heard the term - iPhoneography. To put it simply, iPhoneography simply refers to the process of taking and editing photos on an iPhone.

There is an entire culture out there of artists who create beautiful images on their cell phone. These images go beyond the selfie. The artis takes a shot of something with their smartphone. What makes this a cultural group the use of a easily portable iPhone camera

or any smartphone. They use the cell phone and not a fancy expensive camera.

When creating cell phone images to be process later, the best guidance will be to “keep it simple”

Don’t overdo it with the subjects. Stick to clean backgrounds and subjects that can be enhanced in appearance or shape. Pick an idea and go with it. I always try to have a sketch of what I intend to create to keep myself on track, but it doesn’t mean I can’t modify my ideas as I go along. It’s all about having fun and creating.   The phone camera is great, but your creations will be even better with additions. Much like the DSLAR and other fancy cameras. There are iPhoneography equipment add-ons — like lenses, mounts and adapters (such as Beastgrip’s product line) which allow you to attach your collection of professional lenses onto your phone. There are many different applications that help you enhance your photos in post-production and it’s up to you to discover which works best for your needs.  You’ll also need to have applications like Photoshopfix, REPIX, and many other editing apps.

Taking selfies are fun and it’s great to share. I love taking portraits, family images and everything else that allows me to capture it on the digital medium. And it’s all so much FUN.

Try something challenging and new other than the portraits or wedding using your big camera. try iPhoneography — the most important thing to remember, is to get out there and snap away.
